What I've Learned

Looking back over my unit 3 exercises, I had put myself at a seven in all three categories. Honestly I think i'm still at a seven- but closer to an eight than I was when I started this class. I do not believe that improving yourself on a whole is something that can be accomplished "overnight" so to speak and recognizze that even though sometimes change is dreadlfully slow, it's still change none the less and it's still positive. I'm still exercising and eating right, I am still very comfortable and secure in my spiritual practices and my son is still making sound effects while I'm trying to write this, so my psyche is hanging in there as well. On the upside I found out yesterday that we have other options open to us as a family through the Army that will definitely allow me time to take a break and recouperate my mind so there is most definitely a light at the end of this tunnel now!

I have managed to squeeze in a bit more time for myself in the mornings with my exercises as well as making more time for family time. I am still not able to get out into nature quite as much as I'd like, but that has more to do with the rain and cold weather than anything so I wind up sitting on my porch instead of trekking through the wilderness but at least I'm still out in the sunshine and fresh air! I still love my crossword puzzles and I'm game to try and good brain teaser I can find.

Overall this class has taught me that no matter what, I still deserve time to focus on me and that I am just as important as doing the laundry, helping my son with a problem, going grocercy shopping, cleaning the litterbox, playing an online game with my hubby or any of the other number of things I tend to busy myself with. I deserve those few minutes in the morning to just slow down and refocus myself on my inner healing- and for that, I am extremely thankful! I've really enjoyed this class and learning from both the professor and my classmates and I hope everyone is able to leave the class with, at the very least, the knowledge that they too are worth the time it takes to do the exercises. Best wishes!

Jen

  1. Jen, I agree with you 100% - overall, no matter what we ALL deserve the time necessary to focus on ourselves and take care of ourselves. If we don't take care of ourselves no one else will. If we falter, there is no-one that can pick us up. It is good to see that you've been able to find a couple more minutes to add to your physical exercises, and that you are able to some "ME" time into your busy schedule!

Good luck to you as you continue through this pathway of life!

  2. Hey Jen'
I hope to meet you again during this journey. At least you are honest to think that you are still at a seven, but closer to an eight compared to when you first started class. I do agree with you that improving ourselves on a whole cannot be accomplished overnight. Keep exercising eating right, and being comfortable and secure in your spiritual practices. That is so funny that your son is helping you become stronger with his sound effects. Ha… Ha… I am glad that you found out that you have other options that are open to you as a family through the Army. There is a lot of help that you must dig deep for in those areas. As a military retired spouse, I am indeed grateful that you got the information and it will allow you to take a break and recuperate your mind. Yes, there is always a light at the end of this tunnel! Stay encouraged in that area.

It is wonderful that you have managed to squeeze in a bit more time for yourself in the mornings with your exercises, and make more time for family. In due time, you will be able to get out into nature. Everything has its own timing. As soon as the rain and cold weather eases up, make a dash for the outside. Girl, you got it together. So many people would love to have a porch like you to sit on and absorb the sunshine and fresh air! I love your relaxation with crossword puzzles and brain teasers. Maybe you should invite me over. Hhmmmh… Sounds quite relaxing

Yes, you got it!!! This class has taught you and me that no matter what, we deserve time to focus on ourselves. Everyone needs to take a break! You definitely deserve those few minutes in the mornings to just slow down and refocus yourself on your inner healing. I have enjoyed you as a classmate also and yes, we had a wonderful professor to help us grow. Thank you, and yes, I will continue on my journey with the knowledge that I too am worth the time it takes to do the exercises. Best wishes to you too and I wish you continued success throughout your life.
